About teks.click
Who made this
teks.click is a project of Worth Considering Ltd, a software consultancy registered in England and Wales (Penzance, Cornwall). The editorial work is by John Harris (TCP) and Jowan, who serves as company synergist and age-appropriate reader.
Jowan's role is not decorative. The resource is aimed at students who were recently the age at which these passages are to be taught. Having encountered these texts — and the historical, comparative, and comedic framing that makes them educationally serious — at those ages is a genuine editorial qualification that no university divinity department can provide.
teks.click has no affiliation with the Texas Education Agency, the Texas State Board of Education, or any religious organisation.
Why
Texas HB 1605 mandates biblical passages for more than five million public school students from 2030. The official framing is literary and historical. The only resources currently being produced to support delivery are devotional. A teacher who wants to honour the literary and historical framing — and who wants to keep their job — currently has nowhere to go.
This resource gives them somewhere to go. It is free because it should be free. It is GPL-licensed because the texts it is built around are ancient, public domain in their oldest translations, and deserve the same freedom that made open software possible.
Criticism
Criticism is actively welcomed. The project specification is published openly. Errors of fact, failures of scholarly rigour, pedagogical misjudgements, and gaps in coverage should be sent to criticism@teks.click. A public log of criticism received and responses given will be maintained on this site.
The resource's credibility accumulates every time a criticism is engaged honestly. We are not interested in a resource that cannot be criticised.
Licence
All original content on teks.click is published under the GNU General Public Licence v3.0. It may be freely used, reproduced, adapted, and redistributed provided that derivative works carry the same licence. No commercial restriction is imposed. Texas school districts, teachers, curriculum developers, and publishers in any jurisdiction may use this material without fee or permission, provided the GPL terms are honoured.
The texts themselves are linked to BibleGateway and are not reproduced here. Translation copyright rests with the respective rights holders.
